Maria Stead
BA (Hons) First Class - English and Spanish, MA Writing and Poetry
Education Associate
Maria is a conscientious and highly professional, innovative education consultant and former Assistant Head Teacher with 5 years’ Leadership experience. Her overriding motivation is the belief that no child should be “unlucky” or disadvantaged when it comes to education.
She is extremely skilled regarding pastoral outcomes-especially for the most disadvantaged/SEMH/SEN pupils - including attendance, behaviour, safeguarding, LAC, Alternative Provision and pupil welfare. She has also developed bespoke transition programmes with highly impactful results.
Maria was part of an SLT support team which was deployed from an Ofsted rated outstanding school to a school in double dip special measures to offer guidance, oversee the implementation of successful systems alongside the need to improve standards in a very short time span. She was also tasked with re-engaging highly disenfranchised parents and carers. In one academic year, special measures were removed.
Additionally, for 17 years she has been a meticulous and highly successful English teacher delivering outstanding GCSE outcomes in English and English Literature. Her thorough and precise approach to implementation of new systems and strategies has yielded excellent results at a classroom, departmental and whole school level.
Maria has also taught abroad in Spain and in several secondary schools in a variety of demographics. This varied experience has led her to be a relentless driver of improvement and opportunities for the most disadvantaged families and children.
